Selection Of Participants For The Upcoming Certification Course - "European Green Deal - Legal Perspectives".

Within the framework of Jean Monnet’s module – “European Green Deal – Just Transition in Education”, Georgian National University SEU announces the selection of participants  for the upcoming certification course – “European Green Deal – Legal Perspectives”.

The aim of the certification course is to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the legal framework of the European Green Deal, climate policy and sustainable development, considering both EU and national legal contexts. The course will examine the role of the European Green Deal in environmental and energy transitions, with a focus on competition policy, municipal law and human rights protection. Through lectures and practical assignments, participants will engage in discussions of real-life cases and work in groups to develop a policy document that presents their vision of legal or economic solutions to specific challenges.

Participants will study topics such as:

  • Legal foundations of sustainable development;
  • Tools for implementing the European Green Deal;
  • Environmental policy and administrative-judicial oversight;
  • EU competition law in the context of the green transition;
  • Constitutional and international environmental rights;
  • The role of local governments in implementing environmental policy.

Lectures will be delivered by Georgian and international experts with academic and practical experience. Participants who actively attend both days of the course and prepare and present a policy document will receive a certificate upon completion.

The certification course will take place on July 7–8, 2025, at Georgian National University SEU. The presentation of the policy documents developed during the course will be held on July 21.

The course is open to all individuals who are at least in their fourth year of undergraduate studies or who hold a relevant academic degree in one of the following fields: law, economics, international relations, public administration, environmental protection or other related social or political science disciplines.

We particularly encourage the participation of municipal representatives involved in environmental policymaking, implementation or legal work.

Interested individuals should complete the registration form by June 22, 2025.

The number of participants is limited to 25.

The working languages of the course are Georgian and English (simultaneous translation will not be provided).
